Well, first you really need to know what is defined as Pop Culture.
Pop Culture, or popular culture, is defined as...well, the most popular aspects of world culture. *eye roll* What, you couldn't figure that out for yourself? If you want to be Orwellian about it, it's all that prolefeed rubbish.
Doublethink is the act of holding both a truth and a lie that contradicts the said in one's mind at the same time and believing both. For example, we all know that the sky is blue, but someone using doublethink correctly will know that the sky is blue. But, should it be required, they will believe that the sky is orange, and will deny that the sky ever was blue, and will probably forget that the sky ever was blue. However, should they be required to believe that the sky is blue again then they will do so, and forget that they ever thought the sky was orange. It sounds too hard to me, but some people can actually do this. Politicians, generally, and media people. Doublespeak is the act of saying something but encouraging its opposite and using what you said to do so.
Now, some slogans and such that contradict themselves.
Be Yourself - and yet, pop culture encourages conformity. Therefore, the doublethink here is that the slogan encourages individuality, but that which surrounds the slogan encourages conformity.
Work Smart - and yet, popular culture seems to have leaned in the trend towards encouraging crimestop, or protective sutpidity. Look at the world literacy rates! Look at the standard of modern writing! Look at how the jobs sector is screaming out for those with highly advanced skills! And, of course, look at the lack of THINKING in modern society. If people suddenly decided to think more, rather than less, the government would be in biiiiiiig trouble.
Er, and I have to cut this short. People wish to use this computer now.

155 and rising? It should really be 179 and rising, I'm getting pretty obsessed with the skins here. And I WANT that prison set to be a SET goddamnit! There's a reason for the sets category, you know.
Yeah, I'm on TSR at the moment, downloading too much stuff. I can't wait until I get the complete collection.
Edit: I have 234 female skins, about 30 female child skins, 300-400 male skins and about 20 male child skins. And I have yet to get started on the head files.

SUNDAY 1400
Well, last night was certainly...enlightening.
I know I shouldn't be so bitter - not really my place to be - but it did get me about a lot of things that happened last night. I did win a Community Service award, which is pretty good because I did go to almost every Citizenship Ceremony this year, and I lived through the utter fiasco that was Australia Day. Long story short - something like 200 people in a space meant for about 50.
But anyway...
What annoyed me first was that nobody cared to mention that Ben, Sarah and Georgina were leaving. I also got a little pissed off about the NCO Training Weekend screw-up, but that's a whole other thing entirely. I'm not particularly bitter over any of the awards, but there were a few points that got me, although they're really more of 'the-whole-year' things than just the awards night.
Firstly the promotions screwup. Kempster isn't our OC anymore - Bartlett is now. So why did the NCO training get mucked up?
Secondly, the Branch Comittee. Both Mum and myself are pretty annoyed with them. Mum's been pushing to get onto the Branch Comittee since I joined, but they seem to be snubbing her at this stage. Why?
The only solution I can see for it is for Mum to join as an officer - which would be great because she can get the kids to follow orders - in which case the Branch Comittee can't override her decisions, although the other officers probably could. But, Mum won't join because she doesn't want to do drill, although once she's passed the basic drill training, chances are she won't have to, because Vicky can't exactly stay on as Education officer (although Scott'll probably get that position) and we do kinda need a Quartermaster (meaning 'person who makes sure we've got enough uniforms and stuff').
Thirdly, promotions. Especially in the case of a couple of the guys. Ben put up with the promotions fiasco in the old Air League, then he didn't complain at all about being stuck as a Leading Cadet for...I think two years, maybe longer. At that stage, we actually really needed a male Sergeant, and he could've been promoted. Instead, they left it too late and he ended up as a Warrant Officer instead, and he could've still been promoted. I think that that stage though everyone realized that he wasn't going to stick around for much longer, so that could be the reason - they didn't want to open the position up too soon. There's another good candidate for male Sergeant, but he's been sitting as a Corporal for two years running. I know they're citing cadet numbers, but by March or even April we should have enough cadets at Parafield to warrant a male Sergeant. I'd love to see how the Leading Cadet promotions go, seeing as we're minus two now. And there's three people in line. I'd put my money on Anthony, but that would probably be inviting a loss.
Still, if Stanek gets promoted, that means we need a Corporal to fill his spot, and there's only Matt and James to fill that in. Which leaves us with one too few Leading Cadets, and at the moment nobody's old enough for the position. If Matt or James gets promoted, we're in the same situation again. And Candice is nearly old enough to become an officer - which she will, knowing her - so we're about to get into the classic 'we need NCOs but everyone's too young' problem.
Eh, I've rambled too much now. I'ma out.
